~THE GIFT~

When the holiday season looms
on the horizon
I wonder what gifts I will select
for each and everyone.
Will it be a gift to stretch the mind
Or a trinket just for fun?
It must be the perfect gift,
the best I can find.



I check the catalogs
filling my mailbox to over flow.
For a wide selection from which to choose,
the mall is the place to go.
Books, gadgets, games, clothes and jewels
Shout "pick me" for I am perfect,
don't you see?
I must choose the best gift
for the ones so dear to me.



The perfect tree was chosen
with space underneath to place the gifts.
Garland hugs the branches
and lights twinkle so bright.
Treasured trinkets of gold, red and green
Were chosen to make
the most beautiful tree ever seen.
A star placed on the top completes
the lights twinkling in the night.



The gifts are wrapped and stand waiting.
Each gift was selected with care
and wrapped in love.
With a heart full of Joy
I watch the gifts go to each one.
Eyes light up and a smile is seen
as "Thanks" are said all around.
I knew the perfect gift for each
had been found.



We all agree that the BEST gift was given
on one special night
When God sent the Babe
wrapped in swaddling clothes.
The star led the way to a manger
filled with hay
Where the Savior of mankind lay.
Angels heralded His birth
and shepherds worshiped Him.



The greatest joy
of the perfect gift is the giving.
When the gift is received with love
we are blessed beyond compare.
God gave the perfect gift
so you and I will have life, eternally.
His gift of Love, given long ago,
is still available to you and me.
Accept this precious LOVE gift so free.
