Oh Beautiful Autumn
Your color fills the earth
But, why can't you keep the leaves
up in your trees?
I rake and rake for all it's worth
Do you know why I do this?
So my yard looks nice and neat
The funny thing is....
I'm the ONLY one doing all the raking
on my street
Well, why should the neighbors
go out and rake too?
Their leaves are gone
And do you know why?
'Cause the wind has blown their mess
all over my lawn
It's a conspiracy I tell ya
They made a pact
with the wind......
"Don't let the leaves pile up in our yards
Whip them around a bit
Then....all these beautiful colors
to our neighbor send"
There they go wavin' and smilin' at me
I wave and smile
like I'm havin' SO much fun
rakin' these rotten leaves...
In their car they drive by
Probably goin' to the cider mill
I just sigh.......
