~Soldier I Am So Proud OF You~

All snuggled in safe and warm,
Between the blankets in my bed,
Not afraid to close my eyes in sleep
With soft pillows to rest my head.

My thoughts turn to you dear soldier
Wondering where you are tonight,
Are you afraid, is it dark, are you cold
And waiting for the morning daylight?

Not by demand, but by choice,
You went to foreign soil to protect our land,
You wanted America to remain free,
So you eagerly, and bravely took a stand.

You went away from comfort, family, friends
And the security of american soil.
To keep our land and freedom free,
For this purpose you are willing to toil.

You have been scorned, spit on,
And watched your flag be burned,
You have watched a dying child in pain,
But from your duty you never turned.

You went to serve our country
When you were so young and free,
You have seen more suffering
Than anyone should ever have to see.

Words alone can't express
The admiration and love I feel,
When I look at that American Flag
Knowing a soldier has kept it real.

I am proud to be an American
To live in the land of the free,
You soldier, have paid the price
To keep it that way for me.
Thank you dear soldier. I am so proud of you
