~ Taking Off My Mask ~
Tis the time of year to make a choice
and be whoever you want to be
with masks and makeup, wigs galore
to peek in the mirror who will you see?
Be it a goblin haunting through the night?
Or royalty from children's tale?
A movie actor, singer, dancer?
Or prisoner escaped from jail?
The perfect time to search yourself
And be who you've always wanted
An animal, vegetable or mineral?
Tortured soul whose house is haunted?
Imaginations run wild right now
True inner beings revealed
Richman, poor man, witch or fairy?
A mummy who's tomb's now unsealed?
A hero from the recent news
Or villain from days gone past?
A classic mentor from history?
Or a modern idol who's fames fading fast?
Whichever you choose, tis the perfect time
To be what otherwise you dare not be
And in that sense this year I think
I'll take off my mask and be just me.
