![]() There once was a little bitty turtle that was found on the side of the road We picked him up and brushed him off to make sure he wasn't a toad We took him home to keep as a pet This is not the end, we aren't there yet He was so cute and we loved this little turtle He was our pet, he didn't give us any trouble We took care of him, it gave us such pride But he was so small, so we kept him inside We made him his only little homemade pond There was a little sand dune he could climb upon We thought he was very happy and content Then one day we wondered where he had went We looked and looked, we searched high and low Where oh where did that turtle go? Days went by, then came the weekend Washing and drying clothes, this day we would spend The clothes were washed and then were dried WHAT oh what is that, I couldn't believe what I spied Come here little turtle, so that's where you've been You took a ride in the cycle of wash and spin Oh poor little turtle, you sure will be missed That mean old dryer has done turned you into a crisp To the reptile lovers that will read this story I tried to not make it sound so gory Before the dryer, we know in the water he died You will be comforted to know he drowned before he fried Copyright © April 2003 Theresa R.
