~THE LAST FOREST~
~All that is beauty is extinct
All that is destructive is abundant~
What will we have left
if we do not take care
of what we have right now?
Yesterday is gone
We must work today
to save tomorrow, somehow

Will my grandchildren
look at me
and ask, "What's a tree?"
Will they go into a forest
to look around
All they see is barren ground?

A forest with trees
a picture in a book
If that is something
they want to see
That is where
they will have to look

Knowing the name
of just a few birds
Because so many are gone
Birds they have never seen or heard

The beauty of a flower
that took our breath away
Gone forever
For it was a flower
that belonged to yesterday

The word "extinct"
is used so much more
Yes, I think I hear that word
more times than ever before

What is our home worth?
Where will we go
when we lose our earth?
If all the natural resources
were left alone
We would truly have
a most beautiful home

All now, that we can see
will soon be just a memory
Because....
When we take a look around
Not one forest will be found
