~ IF WE KNEW ~
With all the sadness in the world
The uncertainty, pain and sorrow
How this day ended
Could make a difference for tomorrow
Awake at morning sun
The day is like a brand new empty slate
But, do we carry upon us
Yesterday's heavy weight
Some have not a choice in this
What happened yesterday, no one could avoid
And before they knew it
Life before them, destroyed
Do we worry not of tragedy
Because of where we're at
The unforeseen can be upon us
In an instant, just like that
Perhaps not in such a massive way
At this moment in your life, all could be right
But, then there's a knock at your door
Or a phone call in the middle of the night
Would we live today a little different
If at the beginning we knew the end
Would we be kinder, wiser, more giving
Or is there a relationship we need to mend
As I see, planes fly into buildings
Earthquakes, tidal waves, floods, wars
Yes, more and more earthly distress
Time spent at the computer
Has been less
Less, because ......
Will my family be here tomorrow
Will my friends be ....
And the last question I ask
What about me?
I find myself calling my parents everyday
And even though I've always hugged my kids before
All of a sudden .....
They have been getting a lot more
No, I'm not living my life in gloom
Not at all
It's just a reality check .....
Everything can be going along fine
Then all of a sudden, your whole life can fall
So I ask again ....
This day ....
How would we spend
If we knew at the beginning
How it would end
