~FOR MY DAUGHTER~
~WHERE HAVE THE YEARS GONE~

My little girl, where did you go
Wasn't it just yesterday
I held you in my arms
and danced you around the room
You laughed so hard with delight
as I twirled you around
to that silly little tune

What happened to all the time
we had
The years that I looked forward too
When you were just a baby
I had so many dreams for you



You climbed up into my lap
to read stories together
just you and I
Or when you got hurt
Only Mommy could kiss the tears away
when you would cry

Where have all the years gone
My Daughter.....
Where did they go
When you were just born
I felt like we had forever you know



Now that I look back
Mothers should not think that way
Our children grow up so fast
You are a woman now
But, weren't you my baby
only yesterday

Daughter, I will tell you this
Please listen and learn
Children do not stay little forever
Before you know it
into adults they will turn



So you treasure every minute
you have with your own little ones
When they are covered with mud
from head to toe
That really is not the time to scold
Get your camera out
for it is a memory to hold

When you give them a hug
Call them back and give them one more
Because one day will come
They are on their own
Going out of the door



You have turned
into a very fine young lady
I am so proud of you
But, if I could have just
one day back with my little girl
We would play and laugh
It would be our day
That's what we would do

From the first time I held you
in my arms
I have loved you so very much
That will never change
even though we now live apart
Yes, I see a woman standing there
But, that little girl of mine,
is still inside of my heart
