~Country Road~
Long ago when I was born
Not many things we had
Depression hit us very hard
Our life was pretty sad.
We didn't have much money
Our food was rationed too
But lot's of love we always had
Hard work was all we knew.

Drank water from a rain barrel
Scrub board for washing clothes
Cooked meals on a wood stove
Hard to believe those days I suppose.
Living in the country
Paved roads not everywhere
Radio was the amusement
Telephones were very rare.

A car was a huge luxury
Most clothes were made by hand
Air conditioning was unheard of
Few families had a fan.
Times were hard for everyone
Yet families were very close
I'd live that life again if I could
That was when we had the most.
