In the middle of the forest
an old tree stands
It holds the secret of lover's
carved upon it's bark
Each initial perfectly left
Leaving two sweetheart's mark



If this old tree
could tell the stories it must keep
of two young lovers standing there
Then I would ask the tree to speak
and share the bliss of this loving pair



These hearts with initials
go back many years
Where are the lovers now
I'd like to think they're still together
They had stood before the tree
and took a sweetheart's vow



Do you have a special person
Sometimes you reminisce
About the time you carved your names
Then you shared a kiss



I never had my initials inside a heart
carved upon a tree
No one did I love enough
to share a heart with me



If two lovers carved their name
upon a tree somewhere
Wouldn't it be romantic
to take a trip together
and see if the tree is still there
