Caress
I hold you close for comfort
Your warmth is a reassuring touch
A spark ignites my heart
Something we all need very much
Sometimes there is an aching
for a gentle caress
A hug we could use
of caring tenderness
It makes no difference
the gender or age we are
The touch of another person
can lift our spirit so far
A tiny babe in arms
A man or a woman of many years
A child with wanting eyes
Just a caress can chase away fears
We live in a society today
where I have seen families
not even share an embrace
This is just not right
It's a warmth that nothing else
can replace
Perhaps this is something
to think about
To touch someone
is such a little thing
But it warms the soul
and makes the heart sing
